At Sarum St Paul's CofE (VA) Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child can thrive, achieve their potential and feel fully included in school life. We work closely with parents and carers to understand each child's strengths, needs and aspirations, putting the right support in place as early as possible. Our approach is based on high expectations, strong partnerships, careful planning and regular communication, in line with the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice.

We use a graduated approach to identify and respond to SEND. Children's needs are identified through classroom observations, progress checks, assessments and discussions with families. In the first instance, teachers adapt their teaching to meet individual needs through high-quality classroom practice. Where additional support is needed, we may provide targeted interventions, adapted resources, additional adult support or specific teaching strategies to help remove barriers to learning.

Support may include help with reading, writing or mathematics, strategies to develop communication and interaction skills, support for social, emotional and mental health needs, or adaptations for sensory or physical needs. Our aim is always to enable children to access the curriculum alongside their peers while developing confidence, independence and a love of learning.

Where a child requires support beyond universal classroom provision, we follow the graduated approach of Assess, Plan, Do, Review. Together with parents and carers, we identify clear outcomes, agree appropriate support and review progress regularly to ensure that provision remains effective. We value the knowledge that families have of their children and believe that working together is key to achieving the best possible outcomes.

Where appropriate, and always in partnership with families, we may seek advice from external professionals such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists or other specialist services to ensure children receive the support they need.

Our goal is simple: to remove barriers to learning, promote wellbeing and ensure that every child at Sarum St Paul's feels valued, supported and able to flourish both academically and socially.
